Iron Rock Group is a multi-disciplinary design group that specializes in architectural design, engineering, surveying, and testing for all types of construction within the greater Southern Utah and Northern Arizona region. The Iron Rock team is a tight-knit, hardworking, lighthearted, and extremely versatile group of individuals that demonstrates competency at every scale of construction on everything from smaller residential to large hospitality, governmental, and master planning, and development.
Iron Rock Group is headquartered in Kanab, a small, tourism town located near the border of Arizona and Utah. Although not a requirement by any means, our team has found great success employing individuals with a passion for the region. Southern Utah especially, offers many forms of outdoor recreation, beauty, and interests and Iron Rock is constantly engaged with projects based on these opportunities. ENGINEERING DESIGNER/DRAFTSPERSON
This individual will train with and act under Iron Rock’s Engineers and/or Architects. They will be involved throughout the entirety of Iron Rock’s technical drawing and document development process for both residential and commercial projects, bidding processes, and construction administration.
Responsibilities: •Collaborate and liaise with engineers, and clients, to gather project criteria and establish design objectives and goals •Engage in engineering design processes assisting and overseeing projects moving through conceptual, schematic, and design development stages •Read and follow CAD Standards and Operating Procedures in order to implement them in daily assignments to maintain uniformity in work products • Prepare quality construction ready plans for residential, commercial and municipal public works projects that include Site Plans, Dimensional Plans, Grading Plans, Drainage Plans, Utility Plans, Plans and Profiles, Details and Exhibits using Civil 3D •Water, roadway, sewer, and storm drain modeling •Process survey data to create existing surfaces •Create alignments and profiles in order to create corridors, proposed surfaces and cross sections • Coordinate grading of site in order to achieve an earthwork balance •Prepare staking survey points for construction staking • Plot legal descriptions for parcels, easements, and rights of way •Use various CAD based software to develop construction drawings and plans for numerous types of construction projects •Visit potential construction sites to meet with clients and/or obtain project criteria •Visit project sites under construction for quality control and reporting of progress
Requirements & Skills: •Proven work experience with drafting or technical drawing development •Proficiency w/ CAD based programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, etc. •A thorough understanding of construction-based mathematic and geometric standards & skillsets • Ability to meet deadlines •High levels of professional and interpersonal communication skills •At least one year of experience under an architect, engineer, or contractor engaged in construction related responsibilities, trades, or labor •High attention to detail and a commitment to quality work and craft
MEP Engineer
Requirements: Applicants must have successfully graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. 2+ years of design experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat software; strong written and verbal communication skills; must be strongly proficient with AutoCAD software and its design suites; must be able to demonstrate AutoCAD drafting work experience in MEP projects such as residential, commercial, and municipal projects; additional CAD experience in Revit or AutoCAD Architecture is a plus. All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, undergo a background check, and pass drug and alcohol screening.
Civil Engineer
Requirements: Applicants must have successfully graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. 2+ years of civil land development experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat software; strong written and verbal communication skills; must be strongly proficient with Civil 3D AutoCAD software; must be able to demonstrate Civil 3D drafting work experience in civil land development projects such as residential, commercial, and municipal public works projects; additional CAD experience in Revit or AutoCAD Architecture is a plus. All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, undergo a background check, and pass drug and alcohol screening.
Structural Engineer
Requirements: Applicants must have successfully graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. 2+ years of design experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat software; strong written and verbal communication skills; must be strongly proficient with AutoCAD and STAAD or other structural modeling software; must be able to demonstrate AutoCAD drafting work experience in civil land development projects such as residential, commercial, and public works projects; additional CAD experience in Revit or AutoCAD Architecture is a plus. All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, undergo a background check, and pass drug and alcohol screening.
Architectural designer/Draftsperson
This individual will train with and act under Iron Rock’s Architectural Design Director. They will participate in and oversee residential design development for custom residences and remodels. They will also be involved throughout the entirety of Iron Rock’s technical drawing and document development process for both residential and commercial projects, bidding processes, and construction administration.
Responsibilities: •Collaborate and liaise with architects, engineers, and clients to gather project criteria and establish design objectives and goals •Engage in architectural design processes assisting and overseeing projects moving through conceptual, schematic, and design development stages of architectural design •Produce presentation quality schematic drawings for inhouse and client critique and review •Use various CAD based software to develop construction drawings and plans for numerous types of construction projects •Visit potential construction sites to meet with clients and/or obtain project criteria •Visit project sites under construction for quality control and reporting of progress

Professional land surveyor
Requirements: Applicants are preferred to have successfully graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a surveying field and have 1-2+ years survey experience; hold a Utah State Professional Land Surveyor license or be capable of becoming licensed within 2 years of employment. Must have considerable knowledge in property/ownership/documentation research, boundary law, writing legal descriptions, and preparing boundary surveys, plats, ALTA/NSPS surveys, terrestrial topographic maps, construction staking, and roadway right-of-way projects. Proficiency with Civil 3D AutoCAD software is required; additional CAD experience in Revit or Trimble is a plus. Must have utility location and staking experience; familiarity with Public Lands Survey Systems; proficiency with GPS, Robotic Total Stations, and Data Collectors; experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat software. We require a strong work ethic with the ability to work individually and as a team and work productively to meet deadlines in a timely manner, strong written and verbal communication skills and must possess a valid driver’s license.
