vice president - Structural
R Michael Downward
Mike earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah. After working for a large structural engineering firm in Las Vegas, Mike joined TC Engineering, PC in January of 2007. He brings a strong background with experience and knowledge in all things structural. Together with his two partners Iron Rock Engineering emerged as a multi-faceted full service company.
Handling structural projects ranging from simple residential to larger commercial has it’s challenges, but solving those challenges and seeing clients happy with the outcome makes it all worthwhile. “The variety and types of projects that come across my desk keep the work exciting and fulfilling. Besides structural, there is always an architectural code review for residential and commercial buildings as well as civil engineering design of public works and roadways.”
Mike is a natural at finding solutions to problems and making what seems impossible, possible. He enjoys the challenge of something new. His construction experience gives him a distinct advantage and perspective over most engineers. He is able to streamline processes, cut out unnecessary items and keep the team constantly moving forward.
